your preparation

Here's a list of common preparations you should make before your bathtub refinisher arrives:

Pre-Refinishing Checklist:

1. Clear the area:
– Remove bathroom rugs, towels, curtains, mirrors, pictures, and any other accessories.
– Move furniture away from the bathtub.
– Anything we remove is out of courtesy, and we will not be held responsible for any damage during the process. It is the customer’s      responsibility to put everything back into its place after job is completed.

2. Floors, ceiling and walls: All should be cleaned prior to our arrival. This will reduce the amount of dust that falls onto the surface during application.

3. Clean the bathtub:
– Remove soap scum, mildew, and mineral deposits.
– Wipe down the bathtub with a gentle cleaner.

4. Secure pets and children:- Keep them away from the work area.

5. Provide access:
– Ensure the refinisher has clear access to the bathtub.
– Remove any obstacles or tripping hazards.

6. Any leaks coming from faucets, handles or any plumbing fixtures should be fixed before we arrive. We will not be held responsible for any plumbing fixtures that we have removed. We are not licensed plumbers. If fixtures cannot be removed, then we can mask them before applying the new finish.

7. The finish being applied will not fill in any missing grout. All grout must be in good condition before we arrive to achieve the best possible looking finish. Our coatings are applied at a very thin viscosity. Therefore; any unevenness, gaps, or pinholes in grout will not be hidden.

8. We are required to tape and mask-off the perimeter of the substrate that will be refinished. When masking is removed any paint or wallpaper that is lifted, we will not be held accountable for the repairs. Any areas of concern please point them out, so we can use extra caution.

Additional Tips:

1. Communicate with the refinisher about:
– Any existing damage or concerns.
– Desired color and finish.
– Special requests or requirements.

2. Plan for drying time:
– Allow 24-48 hours for the refinished bathtub to dry.
– Avoid using the bathtub during this time.

Day of the Appointment:

1. Be present to:
– Provide access to the bathtub.
– Answer questions.
– Discuss any concerns.

2. Ensure payment methods are ready:
– Discuss payment options with the refinisher.  Payments are due upon completion.

3. Resurfacing your tub is a construction project, during the process there will be some dust and construction material in the work area. You should be prepared to clean any rooms in which we worked to remove sanding dust that may have settled in areas we could not completely clean. iRefinish is not responsible for complete post project cleaning.

4. Some masking will be left around the refinished unit. We are not responsible for the removal or re-installation of doors, caulking, or masking. If you are not comfortable doing this, then please call our office and schedule a follow up visit. Additional fees may be incurred.

By following this checklist, you can ensure a smooth and successful bathtub refinishing process.
